KINGPIN

The 277 characters of the Marvel core, every link on the table. You get a handful of hits. Each one removes a character and every route through them. Shatter the core: when the smoke clears, make the biggest surviving cluster as small as you can.

HOW TO PLAY
  1. Pick a contract above — how many characters you get to eliminate. First time? Take A warning (3 hits) to learn the ropes.
  2. Click a character to fire, on the map or in the MOST WANTED list on the right. A laser locks on, they go down, and every link through them goes down too. There is no undo.
  3. Your score is the CORE counter, top right: how many characters are still holding together in the biggest cluster. Anyone who loses their last route to it is cut off, turns grey, drifts away, and stops counting. Lower core = better hit.
  4. When the hits run out, three rival hitmen run the same contract on the same board — one always shoots the most connected, one the biggest broker (betweenness), one at random — and you are ranked against all three, plus the best hit-list we ever found.
The catch. The map and the list show how connected everyone is. They do not show who holds the network together. Those are different people, and finding the second kind is how you beat the machines. Stuck? A few free uses of HINT per contract will point at whoever's holding things together right now, and explain why that's not always the same as the most-connected name.
